I'm a half-Mauritian half-Filipino guy who is honestly quite disconnected from both cultures. More often than not, it has left me feeling lost and uncertain about what to do or where to go in life...

One thing is for sure though -
I love to learn, about anything really.

But, acquiring knowledge is meaningless without sharing what has been learned.

This Carrd is an open digital archive of my research into the Mauritian presence in Sydney (businesses, culture, entertainment, events, retail outlets, public facilities, etc.). It was inspired by a similar, yet simpler, repository created by the UNSW Humanities and Langauges Society.

It is a labour of love, built upon the efforts and establishments of others; perhaps others will one day build upon my own.

Working on this Carrd has been a struggle to uncover my cultural heritage and hopefully understand who I am, perhaps out of a desire to find a place to 'belong' in this multicultural melting pot of Sydney.

By sharing this journey of discovery, I hope to ease the struggle of fellow Mauritians living in Sydney who may be looking for resources to help settle down, who could be yearning for the nostalgia of sounds and sights and smells and tastes of home, who are wanting to find a sense of community, or who may even be searching for a sense of self.
